ARC Raiders has remained one of the most closely watched live-service titles. While the game sold over 12 million copies and generated more than $350 million in revenue, the past few months have brought a mix of bold experiments, harsh anti-cheat crackdowns, and concerning player‑activity trends. Here’s a roundup of the hottest news and community topics surrounding the game as of June 2026.
Open‑World PvE Mode Under Test
The most talked‑about feature in recent weeks is the open‑world PvE mode currently being tested in the Chinese region, published by Tencent. Built on Tencent’s own large‑language‑model technology, this mode introduces a dynamic “Insurrection Event” system. All players start as allies, but anyone can choose to “rebel” and attack others an act that immediately marks them on the map. International fans have reacted with both curiosity and excitement, with many calling it “the mode we’ve been waiting for.” The test also includes dynamic weather, a day‑night cycle, and completely free exploration, breaking away from traditional quest‑based progression.
Denuvo, Three‑Strike Bans
Embark Studios has taken a hard line against cheaters. In mid‑May, patch 1.29 introduced Denuvo anti‑cheat, and by early June a three‑strike ban system (30 days → 60 days → permanent) went live. More controversially, the studio implemented a “family‑share penalty”: if any account in a Steam Family group is caught cheating, the entire group receives a permanent ban from ARC Raiders.
Player Activity Decline – A Worrying Trend
Despite its commercial success, the game’s daily active player count has taken a steep dive. From a peak of over 482,000 in November 2025, numbers have fallen to around 31,000 in early June 2026 a drop of more than 90% in just five months. While the game remains profitable, the shrinking population has raised concerns about matchmaking health and long‑term retention.
Future Roadmap: Slower Updates, New Expeditions, and Dual Bosses
Embark has announced a shift to two major updates per year (starting with “Frozen Trail” in October 2026), though smaller patches will continue. This summer’s “Riven Tides” version added the Panorama Azzurro map and a two‑boss encounter called “The Two Queens.” The fourth season is currently in week 6 (June 1‑7), with weekly challenges focused on melee ARC kills and container hunts. Most notably, a new “Expedition” mode will launch on June 22, 2026, allowing players to reset their progress in exchange for permanent rewards.
ARC Raiders is standing at a crossroads. Its bold PvE experiments and uncompromising anti‑cheat stance deserve praise, but the sharp drop in players and slow content cadence signal real risks. Whether the upcoming Expedition mode can rekindle the fire without setting anyone on fire is the question every raider is asking.
